Laser Therapy
Two specialist laser systems — one you won’t find at any other UK osteopathic practice.
MiS MLS Class 4 Laser — Exclusive to Canonbury Clinic
Canonbury Clinic is the only osteopathic practice in the UK equipped with a high-powered MiS MLS Class 4 laser. This is not a standard therapy laser — it delivers very high instantaneous peak powers while maintaining carefully controlled average power, giving it clinical capabilities that lower-powered devices simply cannot match.
The MLS (Multiwave Locked System) technology synchronises two therapeutic wavelengths to produce a combined anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and regenerative effect. It penetrates deep into tissue, accelerating cellular repair and reducing pain from the very first session.
The result is a treatment that is both remarkably powerful and completely safe for the patient — a combination that makes it uniquely effective for stubborn, chronic conditions that have not responded to other approaches.
Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)
Also known as cold laser therapy, LLLT uses lower-intensity light to enhance cellular energy production at a mitochondrial level. This stimulates the body’s natural repair mechanisms, promotes tissue regeneration, and reduces inflammation — all without generating heat or causing discomfort.
LLLT is particularly effective for osteoarthritis, tendinitis, and a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries. It dovetails naturally with osteopathic treatment, especially for patients presenting with acute pain where hands-on techniques alone may not be enough.
At Canonbury Clinic, LLLT is included as part of your osteopathy session whenever it is clinically appropriate — no additional charge, no separate appointment.
Conditions That Respond to Laser Therapy
Both laser systems are effective across a broad range of musculoskeletal and inflammatory conditions:
- Osteoarthritis (knees, hips, shoulders, hands)
- Tendinitis and tendinopathy
- Acute and chronic back pain
- Neck pain and whiplash injuries
- Frozen shoulder and rotator cuff injuries
- Plantar fasciitis
- Sports injuries and muscle strains
- Post-surgical rehabilitation
