Knee Pain Changes Everything

When your knee is playing up, it affects almost every part of your day. Walking becomes something you think twice about. Stairs feel like a challenge. Getting up from a chair, kneeling down, even turning over in bed — things that should be effortless start to feel like a battle.

Maybe you’ve been limping for weeks and hoping it’ll sort itself out. Or perhaps the pain woke you up last night and you’ve decided enough is enough. Whatever stage you’re at, you don’t have to keep putting up with it.

Do Any of These Apply to You?

Knee pain shows up in many different ways. You might recognise some of these:

Knee pain stopping you

From doing the activities you enjoy?

Clicking or popping

When you bend or straighten your knee?

Your knee buckles or gives way

Without warning?

Swelling around the knee

That comes and goes or won’t settle?

Limping

Because you can’t put full weight on it?

Your knee locks

In an uncomfortable position and won’t move freely?

Pain waking you at night

— you can’t find a comfortable position?

If any of these sound familiar, you’re in the right place. These are some of the most common things we hear from patients — and most of them wish they’d come to us sooner.

What Causes Knee Pain?

Knee pain is one of the most common problems we see, and it can have many different causes. Often, there isn’t one simple explanation — it can result from a combination of factors including how you move, what you do for work, previous injuries, and general wear and tear.

The important thing to know is that pain doesn’t necessarily mean something serious is wrong — but it does mean your body is telling you something needs attention. Some of the specific conditions linked to knee pain include:

  • Sprained or strained ligaments — overstretched or torn ligaments from sudden twisting or impact
  • Tendonitis — inflammation or degeneration of the tendons around the knee
  • Bursitis — inflammation of the fluid-filled sacs that cushion the knee joint
  • Torn Cartilage — damage to the meniscus, often from twisting under load
  • Tibia-Femoral Syndrome — pain arising from the main weight-bearing surfaces of the knee
  • Patella-Femoral Syndrome — pain around or behind the kneecap, common in active people

Accurate diagnosis is the first step. Once we understand what’s driving your knee pain, we can treat the cause — not just manage the symptoms.
